Handicapping for
Counties Kidz Kartz Race Meetings
- Every pony is allocated a handicap at the beginning of the season. This
handicap is based on last season's performances. If the pony is new to
racing the handicap will be assessed on how the pony performs with like
ponies on club night and may be adjusted accordingly.
- Any disqualifications do not affect the pony's handicap. Pony will be
given last placing but will not move 10m forward.
- With Every Win a pony moves back 20m in handicapping.
- 2nds and 3rd place getters move back 10m.
- Last 3 ponies move forward 10m.
This 10m will accumulate with the 10m concession if the pony finishes in the
last 3 as well. ie a pony who has 3 accumulative starts finish further back
than 3rd and runs in the last 3 will move up 20m.
- Concessions will also be allocated to drivers
These are:
- 20m concession until the said driver has won 2 races, which is reduced
to a 10m concession until the said driver has won a further 3 races (ie. 5
races in total) The concession remains the same for all distances.
- All handicaps are based on 400m race. 600m races the handicaps will be
1.5 times the original handicap and 800m will be 2 times the original
handicap.
- All ponies will move up and down the handicaps, finding a level where
racing is even. Giving every driver the opportunity to obtain their best
possible finish.
- The reason for this handicapping system is so that all kids and ponies
are seen to be given a fair opportunity to be competitive.
- This system will provide a transparent process which all parties can
understand.
- Any parties not happy with any of the pony's handicaps and would like
them to be revised, must notify the Counties Kidz Kartz Club in writing. All
submissions will be reviewed by the Counties Kidz Kartz Committee and may be
adjusted accordingly.
